Don’t be shy, Al Gore

Hmm.. I havent been maintaining my blog regularly for some time now. This post is again a filler. Few days back I was watching Slacker Uprising by Michael Moore and I really liked two songs from the movie. First is “Dont be Shy” by Eddie Vedder and the other one is “Al Gore” by Rober Ellis Orral of Monkey Bowl.

Both Songs are shared below. Do listen to them.

Eddie Vedder – Don’t be Shy

Don’t be shy just let your feelings roll on by
Don’t wear fear or nobody will know you’re there
Just lift your head, and let your feelings out instead
And don’t be shy, just let your feelings roll on by
On by, on by, on by, on by, on by, on by

You know love is better than a song
Love is where all of us belong
So don’t be shy just let your feelings roll on by
And don’t wear fear or nobody will know you’re there
You’re there, you’re there, you’re there, you’re there
You’re there, you’re there, you’re there, you’re there

So don’t be shy just let your feelings roll on by
And don’t wear fear or no one will know you’re there
You know love is better than a song
Love is where all of us belong
Belong, long, long, belong, belong, belong

Monkey Bowl – Al Gore

Al Gore lives on my street,
Three-twenty-something, Lynwood Boulevard.
And, he doesn’t know me
but I voted for him. Yeah, I punched the card!
I don’t know how he lives with knowing,
That even though he won the popular vote
He still lives on my street, right down the street
From me.

One time, I had a bike
And I was a kid, and someone stole it from me
And still I’m mad about that,
Carrying anger, I just can’t let it be.
I need to be more forgiving, I know it,
‘Cause even with the popular vote,
Al Gore lives on my street, right down the street,
From me.

Life isn’t fair, don’t tell me, I know it
‘Cause even with the popular vote,
Al Gore lives on my street, right down the street from me [repeats]
President Gore lives on my street, right down the street from me.

Al Gore: Hey Man, I like your song. But you should move on with all that stuff. Hey, this is a great neighbourhood.

Nahi Samne Tu

For Once: A Hindi Song to Share. This is one of my favorite AR Rahman songs. Another AR Rahman song that closely competes with this one is: Do Kadam Aur Sahi from Meenaxi.

This song is ‘Nahi Saamne Tu’ from the movie Taal.
You can hear it here: Nahi Saamne Tu

And as usual, here are the lyrics.

dekho chhod ke kis raste wo jaate hain
saare raste vapas mere dil ko aate hain

preyasi

nahin saamne, nahin saamne ye alag baat hai
nahin saamne, nahin saamne ye alag baat hai
mere paas hai, mere paas hai tu mere paas hai
mere paas hai tu mere paas hai
mere saath hai,mere saath hai

tera naam maine liya hai yahan
mujhe yaad tune kiya hai wahan
tera naam maine liya hai yahan
mujhe yaad tune kiya hai wahan
bade zor ki aaj barsaat hai
bade zor ki aaj barsaat hai
mere paas hai tu mere paas hai,
mere paas hai tu mere paas hai
mere saath hai, mere saath hai

bichhad ke bhi mujhse juda tu nahin
khafa hai magar bewafa tu nahin
bichhad ke bhi mujhse juda tu nahin
khafa hai magar bewafa tu nahin
mere haath mein hi tera haath hai,
mere haath mein hi tera haath hai

mere paas hai tu mere paas hai,
mere paas hai tu mere paas hai
mere saath hai, mere saath hai
mere pass hai, mere pass hai
mere saath hai, mere saath hai
mere pass hai, mere pass hai

Agreed, they appear the most-deewana, sicko types; but me likes it :D

And if you have trouble understanding the romanised hindi, I can do a sicko-types translation.

A Trip To Allahabad

Thirteen days ago a tragedy struck my family. For the necessary rituals of which,  I now have to make a trip to the pious city of Allahabad. I shall be leaving today and returning on the afternoon of 27th.

If the occasion permits, I shall try to capture some sights and sounds of the city; I cannot promise though. But I can apprise you of the fact that Allahabad has been the cultural centre of the nation for a long long while. Many of the major cultural stalwarts, literature gurus, great artists of India have come from the city of Allahabad. Read about Allahabad at Wikipedia.

In the meanwhile, I have started job since the 21st of this May. I have to post an account of the transition in my life and how it feels. There are also some other general posts that I have to make, which, I fear will now have to wait at least till the 27th. See you then.

Until that time, I recommend you to watch the ‘Bee Movie‘. I watched it a few days back and enjoyed it thoroughly. And take care of yourselves and your loved ones. Be safe.

Bidding Adieu

Two Years. Seven Hundred and Thirty One days. Seventeen Thousand Five Hundred and Twenty Hours. Over. The End.

I, today, stand at that juncture in one’s life whence one phase ends and a new one begins. Ancient Indian System divides the life of any individual into four phases: Brahmacharya (Student phase; implies Discipline), Grihasthashrama (living in the material world), Vanprastha (Retired from responsibilities) and Sanyasa (renunciation), each lasting a period of twenty five years. A students life ought to be that of self-discipline and a guided effort towards learning – Brahmacharya. It is this phase that I cross now and enter into the material world. Soon, I’d start working. Life will be so different then.

But, before I start running the rat race I want to take a pause. Stop and pen down my thoughts here. So that when I grow older, I can always return here and remind myself how I used to be as a student. More particularly the two years that were GBO.
