A year of pain and suffering, but moving on…

November 26, 2008 was a dark day for all of us as 10 gunmen roamed the streets of Mumbai, firing indiscriminately on anyone in sight. They molested the Indian dignity and hospitality that day. Destroyed many families, ruptured life. Today, it is a complete year and there is no justice in sight. Things havent changed. When will they?

As I have mentioned in previous posts, these days I am working on the lyrics for some songs for Manu Rajeev’s next album. One of the songs is on the subject of terrorism – a lament. Today, I share the lyrics with you. Do give your feedback. Hopefully, the song will see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Romanised Hindi lyrics, followed by (rough) English Translation:
(I had trouble writing in devanagri – every help welcome)

Kal, shor tha aur tha, jalta aasman
Kal the, sapno ke bujhate chiraag
Kal, dard tha aur tha, ye ehsaas
maine hai khoya koi apna is gham ki aandhi me

Yadon ki dastak na thi, Sapno ki aahat na thi
Gardishi gard me, mit gaya tera mera nishan

Tu hai kaisa aadmi? Teri jannat ki ye hasrat kaisi?
Mujhko mita ke, khud ko luta ke, tu kya payega?
Khoon ki ye nadiya baha ke, tu kya payega?

Apno ki aahat na thi, Lamho ki chahat na thi,
Gardishi gard me, mit gaya tera mera nishan

Tu tha kaisa aadmi? Jannat ki ye teri hasrat thi kaisi?
Sab kuch bhula ke, duniya ko jala ke tu kya payega?

Kal, lut gaya, kho gaya mera jahaan
Aansuon me beh gayi, meri pehchaan

English Translation:
Yesterday, there were shouts and cries and a burning sky
Yesterday, there were some dying hopes

Yesterday, there was pain and the numb feeling
that I have lost a dear one
in this torrent of sorrow

Memories did not beckon, dreams did not reckon
In a sad dark cloud was lost our existence

What sort of man are you? What is this desire for heaven?
By destroying me, by ruining yourself, What will you achieve?
With all this blood-shed, What will you achieve?

Kin do not beckon any more, No more is a want of moments
In a sad dark cloud was lost our existence

What sort of man were you? What was your desire for heaven?
You forget everything and just burn the world, What will that achieve?

Yesterday, was ravaged and was lost – my world
And was lost, in tears, my name

Lyrical Debut

Been working on a musical album for about a month now – Indipop + Sufi (possibly). Its been a lot of hush hush as yet and is still going to be. Playing a marketing role, looking at how Social Media can be best utilised in the scenario, will soon talk about what and how we are doing stuff.

I am also looking at how best to go out with an indie album – yep, not planning to release the album through some big publishing house. The artist’s first album came out from the T Series stables but the experience was not that too rosy. Heck! Even the copyrights for the songs are with T Series, the artist can’t work with them on Last.FM or anywhere else.

Also, a first for me – I am writing the lyrics for some (at least) of the songs. Not that I can boast of my lyrical prowess, but if the artist finds it good enuogh to sing, I guess it is good enough to listen to. I’ll soon be sharing a couple of songs I have already written for the album – your feedback will be much appreciated.

Just recorded one scratch track for the album one fine day. This song will not see the light at the end of the tunnel though. Titled “Itna Bura” the song is very bad :D Just the end result of a weird rickshaw ride with Yadu Rajiv. And yes, the voice is mine. Please don’t flame me ;)

While, we are still talking music I will also like to draw your attention to some instrumentals made by me. Not so great, but an attempt by me – some are really nice and I like them. Find them on my Last.FM Artist Page. They all are available for free download as well. Feedbacks on them (comments and shouts on last.fm) are also welcome. I am also working on my second instrumental album “Into the Night“, the title track is already on Last.fm. Some other tracks have been delayed due to my system’s bad PSU issues. The first album was “In my dreams“. It is a compilation of extremely short instrumentals really. Nothing very inspiring.

Narutard: Alive by Raiko

I am addicted to Naruto since the last Fortnight. One of my favorite songs from the soundtrack is here. More soon.

Everyone makes mistakes at times
It’s not something embarrassing
Don’t waste these scars
Keep on going laughing, and it’ll all be good

Dil Gira Dafatan

Track 6 from Delhi 6
An awesome song. Shot Brilliantly (if you discount some glitches). Wonderful Lyrics and Every Praise for Rahman is little for this song. It is only once in a while that such songs are made.

Lyrics and Video Below:

Dil mera
Dil gira kahi par dafatan
Jaane magar ye nayan
Teri khamosh julfo ki gehraiyan
Hai jaha dil mera uljha hua
Hai wahi kho gaya
Tu magar hai bekhabar
Hai bekhabar

Dil gira kahi par dafatan
Kyu gunj rahi hai dhadkan
Jaane magar ye nayan

Sipio ke hoth se
Moti chalak rahe hai
Ghazalo ki sohbat me
Geet bhi behek rahi hai
Samandar lehro ki
Lehro ki
Chadar odh ke so raha hai
Par main jaagu
Ek khumari ek nasha sa
Ek nasha sa ho raha hai

Tu magar hai bekhabar
Hai bekhabar

Dil gira kahi par dafatan
Kyu gunj rahi hai dhadkan
Jane magar ye nayan

Khushbhuo me hai lipate mausam
Teri khamosh julfo ki gehraiya
Hai jaha dil mera
Hai wahi kho gaya
Tu magar hai bekhabar
Hai bekhabar

Dil gira kahi par dafatan

An aremaic prayer sung wholesomely by the Indian Rock/Fusion group ‘Indian Ocean’. Spiritually fulfilling, this prayer has a calming effect on me and everyone who has listened to it (in my knowledge). Perhaps I will review this song someday. Its been long since I last blogged.

I am not sure the lyrics/translation is completely correct.
